Part of the Yamashita treasure has been found. The proof is a photograph in a bank vault in Switzerland under a false name of a golden Buddha which you can remove the head and will reveal it is full of gems & precious stones inside. This is a religious figure taken either in Burma or other Asian country. Between 1941 upto the early 1945, the Japanese government had a campaign code name "Operation Golden Lily", in which they will plunder all the riches of counquered nations in Asia. All of this will be ship to Japan and the stagging point is in the Philippines. A number has already been shipped to Japan. The whole operation was headed by a blood cousin of Emperor Hirohito. During the closing stages of the war the remaining treasure were scattered and buried in the island of Luzon. As for why the Philippines is still poor, a number of Filipino, American GI's with the help of captured Japanese soldiers already dug up some of it and kept it for themselves. And in the 70's the administration then also recovered a great deal and kept for themselves. It is not know how much have been recovered and how much is left. Onlhy the ones who got them knows about it.

Although the Filipino "tigas ng ulo" ( hard headed ) attitude is very common so I understand your question I do NOT believe this attitude is dominant nor the primary reason for widespread poverty in the Philippines. After living here so many years I have come to believe the widespread happiness and contentment amongst Filipinos whether rich or poor leads to such poverty. Of course there are many other reasons like both local and international politics where it's probably in the interest of USA foreign policy and the Filipino wealthy, educated abroad elite that the Philippines remains a developing nation aka "third world" poor country.

The Philippines is still poor, and will always be poor until the catholic church allows people to use contraception and abortion as ways of controlling the size of their families.

There are not enough jobs in this country due to the lack of confidence and investment from foreign companies who could change things considerably.

A family should only have as many kids as they can afford to feed, clothe and educate to a certain standard. This doesn't even begin to happen here since the church more or less forces people to keep on producing more and more little catholics which can't be fed, clothed or educated.

About time the church started to take care of unwanted kids through pregnancies which should never happen for 80% of this population.

There's not even enough food resources in this country to feed the population.

Ask yourselves what would happen if all the industrialised nations of the world suddenly decided that Pakistanis worked better and harder than Filipinos, how would you then cope with 10 million more returning OFW people all wanting jobs and houses and food?????????????

Why does everyone blame succesive governments for their problems. If people didn't pay bribes and under the table fines for the things they do wrong or don't want to do, then corruption would start to decrease throughout the country. Everyone here is corrupt in one way or the other, so people who blame the government are really hypocrites, and should set an example to others if they want this country to change

Regardless of whether Yamashita's gold has been found or not, the Philippines is still poor because of wanton corruption in the country. Most government officials use public funds for their personal purpose and enrich themselves at the expense of people's interests. Even foreign investors are wary of doing business in the country because of red tape and the government flip-flops on major issues. While developed countries export products, the Philippines export manpower. I am a Filipino and it pains me to see the country become poorer and poorer.

If it was really proven that the Yamashita's Treasures existed then it must be because it falls to the hands of the corrupt government.

Well, a country becomes poor when its people start believing they are poor just because they always compare life in other cultures/countries. Being at par with the rest of the world in terms of intelligence and ingenuity, to name a few, already makes us wealthy.

The Philippines is not a poor country. The Philippines has great wealth, it is the people of the Philippines that are poor, there is a differance.
