Yes our local police are very helpful when I have had to deal with them.

I think they do a good job in difficult circumstances and they have to get bogged down in paperwork. If they were allowed to get on with the business of solving crimes rather than wasting their time sorting out chavs, yobs and drunks then they would do a better job.

One thing I find strange is that you have to do a fairly rigorous fitness test to be accepted into the police but once you are in you don't get tested on a regular basis. This means you can spend 25 years eating donuts and never be fit enough to chase any criminal, so why bother doing a fitness test in the first place?

I am in a small town that have 2 different Police Depts here....I dont like the ones in College Station...they are all a**holes....but the ones in Bryan are worse....

YET...they get the job done...our crime rate was down last yr. compared to recent yrs.....more a**hole cops or just smarter criminals?...who knows...the response times are pretty good here though...either way...you are looking at 3-5 min. arrival of PD...it takes EMS or the Fire Dept longer to respond...

I have many friends on the force in my hometown of Austin, TX. & I would not have their job for the world. I dated a cop for about a yr & it scared me to death when he went to work...he worked the East side of Austin, which is NOT a very good area.
It seems like the larger the town, the longer it takes to respond...& the more crimes there are...

You can't always blame the PD for certain things....response time, crime solving rate....or actual arrests.....

I have seen times where the dispatch would hold a call....even on a shooting, until they got all the facts...which makes the response time for PD slower since they have not been informed as of yet.....
The same goes for crime solving...it is hard to do if there are 10 witness' & they all tell different stories or different descriptions...not to mention actual arrests...there again...it takes time to figure out if you have the right suspect in custody...

I give high props....deep respect to the men in uniform....may it be police, EMS, Fire Fighters, Military....or Reserves....God Bless them....

the police are there bcos of the people and for the people.
i think it is a great shame that they have the appearance of being a separate authoritarian body to many.
they are there to implement laws which improve the vast majority's quality of life.
how can that be wrong??
I feel they are under staffed, over worked and under paid.

i also feel i should get off relatively lightly if i do anything wrong in future!!LOL!!
I'm not planning to tho, cos I's a good boy.
honest.

Yes I do have confidence in them, shame our government doesn't though, its all red tape today and not enough of the proper police work they want to and should be doing.

We have 3 police around where I live, county, tribal & state, each take forever to get to you if you need help! Do I have confidence in them? Sometimes.

Some are great and some are terrible, just like any group/profession. I would call them if I needed to but some people would rather do without. For some the trust is gone, if it was ever there.

I must admit, I personally don't like the police in my city, but they are doing their job right I guess. They do keep the justice and help protect the community.

i feel sorry for the police, beacause they are fighting a loosing battle. the goverment wont fund them extra money, so they cant recruit more officers which means they are under paid and over streched. but hats off to them for trying to make our streets safer. keep up the good work!!!
