We want to have our 6 month old baptized but are unable to find a place that will do it with out being members of that church. Has anyone else had this happen, and were you able to find a church to do it in?

I said we are not church going people I never said we are not religous. And both me and my husband were baptized and we like the idea of it.We don't go to church because we work weekends and feel bring a crying baby to a church where people are praying and learning isn't a good idea til he is older. We were married in a church, but if I don't go to church then I shouldn't be allowed to have my son reconized by our lord?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will name (you of course chose his or her name!) and bless your baby for free even if you are not members of that Church. That's just what they call it. They give the baby it's "name and a blessing" in the name of Jesus Christ through the Holy Melchizedek Priesthood which they hold. If you and your partner aren't religious, I agree with the other suggestions of not getting your child baptised, until they're older at least; it wouldn't have any meaning for any of you. When the child is older, they can make the decision, and have an understanding of what it means.
Even I, as a Christian, haven't had my daughters baptised, as it will be something for them to choose to do when they're older. My church, and several other churches, have an alternative called a dedication, meaning that the parents dedicate their child to be brought up with a knowledge of Christ, and will teach the child Christian values.

If you have somebody closer to you that is a believer in Christ that person can offer a private ceremony in your own house.
Present a child is just a declaration in public that you would be responsible for guiding that child to get to know Christ, to lead him during his life until he can make his own decisions, to show him good character and to respect an to love God, you present that child to God as an gift to him and you promise to protect him. Is like to seal a deal with God.
Anybody who believes and is a son of God and proclaim Christ as his savior can do it, even you. It's to bless your kid and to put God's seal over his heart. You make a prayer and even may write your own vows to God... just like when you are married.

Had to come back again - sorry Linda but you're wrong. You are "religious'' if you go to church, but you are spiritual if you have found God and this lady is entitled to corrupt her child's life right from the start (as planned). Gets to do this for the next 18 years (poor kid).

If you're not religious, then why? Do you even know what you're doing? I think this may be God's way of reaching out to you and you should pay attention and seriously find a parish you are comfortable in and go for his and your sake.

catholic churches ussually will let u. my neice was baptized at a church none of us attended.
