I have a corsa running a 1litre 12v engine on a 1998 reg and sometimes when you start driving it looses power really bad and starts juddering, and then the power can kick back in and runs mint. however, this morning i went to start the car and the engine was spluttering and loosing power. Really need urgent help with this, its getting worse each time and i carnt afford to be trying lots of diffrent parts.

Please get back to me. Many thanks :)

You could have a clogged fuel filter or a fuel pump issue. Especially if it kicks back sometimes. It could also be a distributor issue (when loses power). My husband is a mechanic.

another common problem in all my vauxhalls. Usually 02 sensor or lambda sensor is buggered. a local garage with engine diagnostics apparatus will scan the car and tell you exactly what the problem is. It's that or the ecu needs remapping, especially if you have changed your exhaust or put an induction kit in. Sensors are up to £100.

the cheapest thing to try is new spark plugs cost about £8 - £10 pounds then see what happens before you get too technical can give weird faults had a car that would run fine and accelerate ok but kept stalling at tickover that was the spark plugs so can give a variety of faults try the simple things first If you always want to be asking questions then take it to a mechanic it will cost you but you wont have the hasle of doing it yourself if you want to try to know have a go yourself first but set yourself a limit for your abilities and cost involved my fault cost me £8 plus an hour and a half of my time its up to you to decide

had a similar problem, if you have a carb make sure the butterfly is closing comletly and that the breather pipes are all ok. could also be the cam sensor or the ecu itself but take it to a garage and they suold find the problem with ease! good luck

Have a word with your local Vauxhall dealer, and arrange for them to do a diagnostics check on the car.The results will tell you exactly what the problem will be.
