I don't believe that people should watch pornography for many reasons;
- it presents an unrealistic view of sex, which can cause us to believe, falsely, that our sex lives are boring or not good enough. Maybe a woman would think that her husband's penis is small, when actually it may be average or even larger than average. Maybe a man would think his wife's breasts are too small or her butt too big, when actually she may be average or above average.
- pornography is like a drug, in that a viewer may want more and more the more he looks at it. Eventually, stuff that is arousing becomes mundane, so the viewer feels compelled to look for kinkier and kinkier porn, which can ultimately lead to full on deviant behavior. Once viewing porn isn't enough, he may pressure his partner into acts that she may not be comfortable with. Then, things can get even uglier when the man acts out against others. Most serial killers share the common bond of porn addiction. Soon, pix and video just aren't enough.
- Porn takes away energy from your REAL relationship. If you're pleasuring yourself constantly to pornography, what are you going to have left for your partner? Your partner and you are there for each other to take care of those urges. When you use pornography, you are shortchanging your relationship.

It's entertainment just like any else. Too much of anything is a bad thing. As long as you lead a well balanced life, then don't worry about it.

Now here's something to ponder: People don't question watching 3 hours of tv in one sitting. But if someone watched 3 hours of porn in one sitting people would say they have an "addiction"

Moral relativism indeed.

There is nothing wrong with pornography. It can be a healthy part of a person or couple's sexual life. However, if watching porn becomes more important than your partner or other aspects of your life, or if it is objectionable to your partner then it's a problem. It can become an addiction just like alcohol, drugs, gambling, and anything else.

Well, Tomis, that's because porn typically provides a burst amount of entertainment. You get ten, twenty minutes tops out of it and you're done. Within three hours of watching television, you can see up to six different shows, with different plots, engaging character interaction, resolutions... It's more variety.

So I'd say watching three hours of porn isn't the same was watching three hours of TV.

But I agree, it's best in moderation. No point in letting it control your life (like the stupid kid in Lifetime's "Cyber Seduction" movie, where he looks at porn almost everywhere and it ruins him and "tears his family apart!")

I believe that pornography should not be watched, because people wear clothes for a reason, which is to keep their private parts, well, private. While it is true that the people who put up pornographic images of themselves did so willingly, it is unequivocal that the choice not to watch it still lies with us.

The Bible gives us a role model in the form of Joseph, who was subject to seducton from the Pharaoh's wife. When the latter tried to advance on him, Joseph struggled and escaped, tearing his robe in the process. His robe was torn, but he "kept his underwear on" and refused to succumb to the carnal temptation.

Of course, the general viewpoint is that pornography is fine because it does not constitute sexual intercourse with the subject, but to me, watching pornography is wrong for two reasons. Firstly, the consequences that follow are great, and as someone above mentioned, pornography can be a stepping stone and later lead to rape. Secondly, the purpose of pornography is the same as rape, with the only difference being that pornography is sinning with one's eyes. Both cases involve sexual immorality, and in my opinion, are both wrong, because one's body is to be exposed only to one's spouse, and not to the public.

Now, when I refer to pornography here, I'm referring to the use of pornographic material for carnal purposes. In other words, watching naked people does not equate to pornography, because it can be a form of art. The watching of pornography that I'm talking about is watching it for the same purpose that rape is done.

I'll end off with a quote from the Bible:

Do not conform any longer to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will. - Romans 12 : 2

The world is certainly changing, and along with modernization, many of our values have changed as well. However, the way I see it, pornography simply isn't ethical, and should never be watched.
