I'm not sure what country you're living in, but some countries have a very strict set of guidelines reguarding religious freedoms which guarentee (to a reasonable extent) a persons right to choose and maintain a religion of his/her own. The governments of these countries cannot impose upon you a beliefs system, and the certainly cannot tell you not to marry someone of a different faith.

As for whether or not it's right to change your own religion for marraige, that's really up to you.

In the United States, people have freedom of religion. They're allowed to choose what they believe in without any government interference (which can be troublesome for the rest of us sometimes, especially those people who go door-to-door, whew!). The government has no power to say who believes or practices what (so long as it's within legal reason, meaning if your religion somehow preaches killing others, it would be illegal to practice that religion).

As for if it's good or not... Well, it depends on what you want to do with your life. What you believe is your choice, what the person you want to marry believes is his choice. And if you "change your religion", are you really going to change your beliefs, or just claim you changed to please your partner? Is it something to be changed so freely, or should it be something you believe in for the rest of your life concretely?

Those are some questions you have to ask yourself, I guess, as everyone has different viewpoints on the topic.

Which government are you talking about????

If you are a free person who knows how to live your own life you would not ask such a childish question.

If you are strongly for your present religion, keep it. If you are so weak that you are willing to dump it for a boy to get married, then dump it.

If you are in America, the government has no right to interfere in or direct you about your religion. Last government that got so involved was the one under Hitler and that is no more.

If you are in love and your boy is in love with you, you should be able to work out the differences in religions and you keep yours and he keeps his and live happily ever after.

Good luck.

Religion is not the business of the government. It is a private thing, between you and your god.
