First off, 666 is NOT a devilish number. People misinterpreted the number and assigned it to the devil. 666 is a numerologic representation of the sun, or of swirling energies. It embodies the 6 (which is the number of the sephiroth Rakhamim, or "Mercy", which is relative to the Christ). It is 3 sixes, which in turn embodies the ternary ... the trinity ... the Supernals... etc. It is infact a holy number.
111 is a Holy Number as well. It embodies the 3 and the 1 both very powerful numbers... it also holds the 11... very magical number.
444 however is an evil number. the 4 x 111 is a dangerous number of control and tyranny... that is what is confused with 666.

As everyone knows, "666" is referenced in "The Book of Revelations" where the devilish number took a mythical sense.
Christian leaders have "666" associated with mythical legends like the devils son etc etc...
But do you know that the origin of this devilish 666 take all its importance if you refer to historical events?
For example, the temples of Jerusalem the Persians destroyed during 597 to 595 BCE because they were satanists and child sacrificers. The story is that Saint Peter, as the leader of the Resistance in Jerusalem, had the temple destroyed in revenge for the murder of James the Just, the first Pope of the Nazarenes (and blood brother of Jesus) that were murdered by Paul of Tarsus and the High Priests of the House of Ananus. This is the reason why John listed the date, so that one day its connection to the essence of evil might be unlocked.
It is also said that "666" has some relationship with the year 1666, which is in error.
That's all that I know. For more information try a specialised website by searching in Google or Alltheweb.

666 is a devilish number because it is said in the bible in the end of days the followers of the devil will be marked with the mark of the beast or the number of the beast 666. I can not give you the details but 666 is the ancient Hebrew number for Lucifer.

666 is first and originally mentioned in the Book of Revelation. It is the number of the devil, 666. So why 666? There is a Hebrew counting method, which makes numbers from ancient-Greek words. So If we use this method, 666 is (in Greek) CESAR NERO. At the time the book of revelation was written, Nero was the Caesar in Rome. He chased Catholicism and wanted to root it out at all costs. So it is why the book mentions the number 666. In a nutshell of course... but yeah, it is a complicated thing.

666 is the devils number because 777 is the most pure number and believed to be the number of god and therefore 666 is less than 777 because the devil is below god and this is why the number 7 is a lucky number and that's why the top prize is always when u get three 7's in slot maches

Revelation 13:18 provides the key. It says it is a man's number 666. The number for Heavenly perfection is 7. The wild beast is spawned by men and is short of heavenly perfection, being 6. Emphasizing that 3 times (666) shows just how imperfect this wild beast is to the ultimate degree.

The 666 is not a devilish number. It is the number of the Beast of Revelation (Caesar Nero & Domition, emperors of Rome during the time Revelation was written).
To the early Christians of the time of Revelation the number six fell short of seven (the number of Man and a 'good' number), was half as much as Twelve (the number of God and a Perfect Number). Six therefore was... imperfect. Sixty-six was even less perfect. And six-hundred & sixty-six was completely imperfect. Thus the number of the beast, Nero and his successor and nephew Domitian.
Not coinicidently, when a numeric value was assigned to each name in Hebrew and Greek their names summed up to: 666.

Has anyone tried to ring 666? It was dead scary! We did it at middnight on halloween when we were younger and we actually heard some people talking! we were crapping ourselves!!! lmao,
anyway, i think 666 might be a mistranslation of the original text, but it could be mocking of the number 3 which is like one of the most sacred numbers known to man - three 6's, 6 is the double of 3..... hey maybe 666 isn't so bad, you could get loads of luck and nice sacredness from it because it's doubled :)

A newly discovered fragment of the oldest surviving copy of the New Testament indicates that, as far as the Antichrist goes, theologians, scholars, heavy metal groups, and television evangelists have got the wrong number. Instead of 666, it’s actually the far less ominous 616.Daniel B. Wallace, Ph.D. - Executive Director of The Center for the Study of New Testament Manuscripts - responds to another article on this subjectThe new fragment from the Book of Revelation, written in ancient Greek and dating from the late third century, is part of a hoard of previously unintelligible manuscripts discovered in historic dumps outside Oxyrhynchus in Egypt. Now a team of expert classicists, using new photographic techniques, are finally deciphering the original writing.
Professor David Parker, Professor of New Testament Textual Criticism and Paleography at the University of Birmingham, thinks that 616, although less memorable than 666, is the original. He said: “This is an example of gematria, where numbers are based on the numerical values of letters in people’s names. Early Christians would use numbers to hide the identity of people who they were attacking: 616 refers to the Emperor Caligula.”
The Book of Revelation is traditionally considered to be written by John, a disciple of Jesus; it identifies 666 as the mark of the Antichrist. In America, the fundamentalist Christian right often use the number in sermons about the coming Apocalypse.
