A letter bomb has exploded at the DVLA in Swansea.

Does this mean that Jeremy Clarkson is a suspect?

Seriously though, speaking as someone who is partially sighted and therefore can't drive, what is it about motoring that would make someone so mad that they would do such a thing?

Someone is obviously pissed at all the cost of running a vehicle with the insurance and tax etc.

I drive a Landrover disco V8 3.9 petrol and they cost a fortune to run and I've heard they are highering the tax on these sorts of vehicles.

So I can see the point of getting angry but I would think sending letter bombs is a tad extreme.

The truth is, that although this behaviour is unacceptable, the DVLA are behaving as a dictatorship that believes they can prosecute motorists for blowing wind without permission from the home office. There is only one answer to this type of dictatorship, and that is terrorism. These letter-bombs are designed not to kill. To even wound innocents is unacceptable but if you worked as a member of the Gestapo in France 1942, no matter how honourable your intentions, you still worked for dictators, and so were still fighting against the Allies.

Until DVLA and the government realise that treating the motorist as a source of income, and that releasing pedophiles in order to imprison people guilty of changing radio stations in their car is going to incite hatred, we are stuck in a position that we can support a murderer or we can support Adolf Hitler. I'd rather not have to make this choice but if I had to, the bomber would be preferable to the genocidal maniac.

We are not at this point yet, but the laws treatment of the motorist is similar to that of the Gestapo's towards the French pheasant. The French rightly fought back with all necessary means, and motorists are going to have to use similar extreme means against a similarly fascist foe.

....what is it about motoring that would make someone so mad that they would do such a thing? ....

Answer: Some people just cannot bring themselves to obey and respect the rules of the road. They are there for every road users benefit (and that is not just motorists). It is not Rocket Science, how thick is this bomber; he should know the rules of the road and know the points system. I think he has accumulated enough points on his licence to exceed the allowed limit, which means an automatic revocation of said Licence.

Perhaps he should learn to drive safely, which he should have done in the first place. What an ignoramus!

It is a kind of twisted logic. It starts with the feeling that something isn't quite fair.

Yet in this case the rules are clear and the consequences of not following them are well known. British roads are not among the safest in the world for no reason. Plus the human, economic and emotional costs of road accidents mean that enforcing traffic laws is important.

Once you have that feeling of unfairness, then it is a short leap to believe that someone else is to blame. With this example that it is the authorities involved with enforcing the traffic laws who are responsible for the loss of a driving license and maybe a job.

If you let that feeling fester, then you start to consider revenge and if you have a poor grasp on what constitutes right and wrong you take the horrific leap and start to carry through on the misguided thoughts of revenge.

I think it means that the authorities can't pin this to Islam in anyway, and can't therefore shake up the local ethnic communities.

I think it's actually embarrassing for the authorities, because despite all this anti-terrorist legislation, the bomber gets through with ease, and for those that think Muslims = terrorists.

It's only the size of the bomb that's stopping people from being killed - no thanks to the bomber.

I'm sure the same car drivers that are quick to slate all of the Muslim peoples will be falling over themselves to say that this in no way represents the peace-loving, car-driving public: a luxury they do not afford to "Muslims".
