dude....it depends on the job...Java on one hand is gotta go for embedded programing and it also goes well for MOBILE platform independent computing...it is quiet older than .net...which is more centered toward microsoft products.Well then most fact is .net supports all programming languages including java,perl,c#,etc. so definetly it has an upper hand over Java...but still its the "job" required that is best suited.One thing to notice is that JAVA is an emerged technology and more companies are using it while .net is an emerging technology which is quite adaptable to the new trends.

Now a Days . Net is booming like any thing and becoming more popular t create web sites.
That's Y .Net has more popularity than JAVA.

Right now, I'd say that .NET is certainly more popular and easier to do than Java. If MS would actually release a legitimate framework for every OS, it would DEFINITELY be .NET over Java.

I would say they are both the same. I prefer .net, but in both Java and .net everything must be in a class. You can't have global variables or global functions, it's all object oriented.
