All i can say is, it depends how you value or give such an important to work for it. Therefore, the both parties are responsible for that. If you really both want to last it forever, Than it will be.
There a lot of cases that concerns about this True love. But no matter how sincere you people for that, if there would be what we called a ' Pride' in between you and misunderstanding ( or whatsoever ), this would probably result negative.
Therefore, True love would only last forever if you both agreed.
