I wouldn't worry to much about it yet, 6 days is still pretty young. I can't help out with the c-section part, didn't have one with either of my 2 children, but what you are describing sounds pretty normal.
My son, almost 5 months, had that problem when he was first born as well. It should start to go away soon, think his did when he was a few weeks old to about a month. I think it is maybe their eyes still adjusting to outside the womb. Once they open their eyes more, and keep them open longer when they get older, it starts to go away.
The redish color I am pretty sure is normal as well. My daughter had redish color eye lids, and my sons were redish purple. My doctor told me, it is just because their eye lids are so thin yet, like the rest of their skin, that you can see the blood flow and other things through the skin. That as well should go away at about 3 to 4 weeks.
Give you daughter time, she is still adjusting to this new world, and her body needs to do the same. If you are really worried, I would still talk to the doctor, there are never any dumb or silly questions you can ask them, when it comes to the health of your child.
Hope that helps somewhat, good luck, hope everything turns out alright.

Congrats, my daughter had the same thing it is normal for newborns if you have breastmilk express into a strile cup and dab with a cotton wool and wipe her eye with your milk you will notice change within a day. Even if you get some milk inside her eye is even better your milk has alot of good things our bodies produce and we pass on our imunity to them try it don't be scared. Every time you see it wash it if it crusty wash it always with your milk. If you do use water make sure that it boiled and cooled I have also been told that black strong tea cooled is good also, stick to your breastmilk trust me it worked for me.
NOTE : Every time you wash her eye use a new cotton wool for each eye even if you need to clean it again at that same time use a new one try and clean as soon as you have express as the milk is warm and it will be easier to clean the crust of after you see it getting better continue to clean in the morning and before bed.
All the best let me know how it goes for you

Without trying to scare you, there is a possibility it could be a simple bacterial infection which is quickly cured using eye drops prescribed by a doctor. It's very common and I sincerely hope you don't wear yourself out with worry. Because she was born via cesarean, her little body was subjected to pollutants in the operating room that she would otherwise not be subjected to had she been born in your hospital room. It happens, and everything will be just fine!
Another possible factor causing her eye irritation is something within the home. Perhaps it could be dust in the air, pet hair/dander or smoke. To help ease any discomfort, soak a wash cloth in lukewarm water, ring it out and softly lay it on her eyes while she sleeps (it'll be easier than doing it while she's awake!).
I wish you all the best, and again, go easy on yourself, your daughter will be perfectly fine. More importantly, congrats on your new addition!

ARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!! Welcome to mommydome, where you worry, and everyone else thinks ur crazy. Crusties in newborns is normal, but I'm not sure about the only 1 eye thing. It may be conjuctivitis (normal and no biggie), or may be just a normal part of being newborn. Point being.........relax. If she has no fever, no change in behavior, no feeding changes, then its prob. nothing major (BEST advice I ever got from my pediatrician). I do know reddish is normal for a newborn........Gotta love all the new worries.........I wish u the best, and I wish you great sleep! Ha ha....hope all is well, and congrats.

That's normal. You can probably just take a warm wet wash cloth and try to wipe it away after softening a bit with the wash cloth. It's sleep and she sure is sleeping, at least my newborn did. It's also normal for you to freak out about every little thing. If you are worried call the pediatrian they've heard it all and it's always better to be safe than sorry. Congrats!

congrats on your baby girl! the crusty eye thing is very normal, my daughter had the same thing. just keep washing it with a cotton ball with warm water. the best thing i found (which my clinic nurse recommended) was breastmilk! squirt a bit in the eye (if you are feeding etc of course), it cleared it up well. not sure about the reddish thing, it is probably fine, but check with the paedeatrician.... good luck, enjoy your precious angel!

I reckon it is just blocked tear ducts. My baby had it and i thought it was conjuctivitis. apparantly it is quite common in newborn babies and can persist too. She still gets a bit mucky in the eye and she is 9 weeks. You can massage the inside of the eye and that helps.
Good luck
ps my doctors advice was just to wipe away with a clean warm water soaked cotton ball

That tends to be normal sometimes on infants...the crusties, I mean. I am not sure about the redish, but sounds to me that your baby is OK. I've heard that squirting breast milk on the baby's eye relieves it....you may want to try that till you take her to the baby dr. Congratulations, have fun with your baby, mom.

Congratulations on your new baby! Life is precious, is it not? Please don't worry about the crusties. We all get it, even our pets do. It is because she has slept, same as for us. No, it won't happen every day, and a pink to red color is pretty normal too. Rest, you will need it from now on!
