Well, information technology covers a range of things, but generally it means working in a company with multiple machines, and you're in charge of keeping them happy. That could be keeping the databases up, configured, the servers running, or keeping the apps on your users desktops working. Some IT people just deal with installation and maintenance, others deal with larger systems, including key issues of performance and networking.

Computer Science is more the in-depth programming, and not the day-to-day maintenance. This is programming anything from desktop apps to operating systems.

Dear Friend,

Information technology (IT), also known as Information and Communication(s) Technology (ICT), is concerned with the use of technology in managing and processing information, especially in large organizations. In particular, IT deals with the use of electronic computers and computer software to convert, store, protect, process, transmit, and retrieve information. For that reason, computer professionals are often called IT specialists/ consultants or Business Process Consultants, and the division of a company or university that deals with software technology is often called the IT department.

To add further to this, IT is one of the branches of Computer Science viz., Hardware, Software, Artificial Intelligence etc.. It is the wide spread application of computer technology to provide solutions to various problems pertaining to various segments like Science, Commerce, Business, Games etc..

So, Computer Science is the basic Field and IT is the extended branch of Computer Science.

I hope this will solve your query.

Computer science, or computing science, is the study of the theoretical foundations of information and computation and their implementation and application in computer systems. Computer science has many sub-fields; some emphasize the computation of specific results (such as computer graphics), while others (such as computational complexity theory) relate to properties of computational problems. Still others focus on the challenges in implementing computations. For example, programming language theory studies approaches to describing computations, while computer programming applies specific programming languages to solve specific computational problems with solutions. A further subfield, human-computer interaction, focuses on the challenges in making computers and computations useful, usable and universally accessible to people.

Information technology (IT), also known as Information and Communication(s) Technology (ICT) and Infocomm in Asia, is concerned with the use of technology in managing and processing information, especially in large organizations.
