to go ahead and marry the girl from canada ive known for 18 months and book a ticket to go over there..but im deeply upset because i know i just couldnt do that, because of the dibilitating mental health symptoms i suffer. my very low self esteem. my other insecurities. my circumstances, please read them... i feel gutted because he made it sound like this would be a good move and it would help me, and i would feel mentally stronger. i wish i could do this, transport myself to that painting i have in my mind. live abroad, somewhere nice, with this girl. with security, warmth and a job. the guy saying this in his answer made me wish i could do it. but i dont think id feel able right now, as much as i want that to happen, to escape to this life i have pictured. visualised. what does anyone think??? (you might have to read my last question to get an understanding of my circumstances)

You have a mighty big pity potty that you have plopped yourself upon. Get counseling and therapy before you think of romantic involvements with others.

Why? What's stopping you? I found a job and moved to Australia after getting sick to the teeth of the UKs crap weather. I arrived knowing no-one and had only £600 in my pocket. I met my girlfriend there, worked to the top of my company and now we've moved back here to the UK for a couple years before we take off to another country, most likely Japan. We've check migration to Canada and it's easy!

Stop worrying, there's people with much harder life's than you that accomplish loads. You can spend your life moaning or go and do something.

I came across the following quote today and reflected upon it. It really does contain an element of truth.

Although generalizations are dangerous, I venture to say that at the bottom of most fears, both mild and severe, will be found an overactive mind and an under-active body. Hence, I have advised many people, in their quest for happiness to use their heads less and their arms and legs more-in useful work or play. We generate fears while we sit; we overcome them by action. Fear is nature's warning to get busy.

You only live once man, it's better to regret something you tried than to regret something you didn't have the balls to attempt. I just chased my girlfriend to the other side of the planet 8 months ago. Hasn't been all roses, but I guarantee it's been better than sitting on my bum back home wondering what would have been...
