London was more central for the players most of whom play in europe,so long distance travel was ruled out because this is the part of the season when clubs need their players refreshed..

to the guy who posted ireland v wales,,it was N.ireland v wales,,ireland play tonight,.

The reason that the Socceroos play "home" games in England is that most players are Europe based and it saves a long flight to Australia for a friendly. This keeps the club coaches and clubs happier as they can play for the club more.

I am not sure when you made the comment if you are including the Australia Denmark at Loftus Road in London.

If you noticed, all the friendlies took place in London, with the press commenting that it was felt that London is so multicultural that the games would be sell-outs!

Also, the countries involved in the friendlies have a lot of players playing in UK / Europe so it reduced travel time for them

For example, 100,000 Brazilians and 35,000 Portuguese living in London ensures that Emirates Stadium sold out and helping Arsenal justify their claim for staging a major cup final

Because England is neutral, and because many english people go and see those matches, and because they can take more profit from the ticket as the tickets in england are quite expensive, more than it could be in Brasil or Portugal, in few words they get more money playing there, and they have to travel less as portuguese players play in europe and brasilian players play in europe too. Economisation.

Because the majority of the squads play in Europe, it stops players having to travel half way around the world to play a pointless friendly game & knackering them out for their clubs @ weekend.
