If I back up my entire C drive to my external hard drive (F), will I be able to to a complete reformat of C, and then selectively pick the drivers back from F?

1) Can your BIOS point to the external drive (F)?
2) Do you have a boot disk. most computers need a bootdisk
even if booting from an externel source.
3)You will probably not be able to selectively (Windows?) pick
drivers.
4) My suggestion is to look on the Linux Webpage. Linux is far
more controllable when it comes to drivers.
In Windows you will have to uninstall the drivers.
