The only TESL/TEFL certificate worth having is the CELTA, through Cambridge. The others are mostly rip offs. I've never heard of the College of Teachers, and doubt that it's a reputable accreditation agency. Look at the curriculum. You need to learn how people actually acquire second languages, methodology, some phonology, and assessment. You need to be able to explain grammar, such as the use of "the". Why do we say "He has high standards" but "You need to follow THE standards for the program"? Can you explain the difference between the present perfect and the simple past? Do you know what a modal is? All those things should be in a good TEFL prep program. The better jobs require a master's degree.
