Technically, British Summertime begins on the last Sunday in March each year. Generally you find that the summer weather tends to kick in properly anytime from May to July or even August.

I was taught that February march and April are Spring, May June and July are Summer, August, September and October are Autumn and November, December and January are Winter. Our weather does'nt exactly match this but thats what I was taught.
The official British summer Time is also different so it's all a bit confusing reallyIn Ireland we say we have a 6 month winter!! October to March and the rest is Spring as we rarely get what you'd call a brilliant summer!! But theres daffodils out already and before the frost arrived this week, I even noticed some tiny flies around, the world is deffinately warming up. We had some fab warm days in December.

It classes the first day of spring as 1 March, saying March, April and May are regarded as the spring months.

March, April and May correct, but March just an extension of winter, normally into April before we get some warmer weather, and even then only for the odd day or two

March, April and May as you say, however we are warming up early here. A lot of spring bulbs are out now which is very early. There are even a few trees with blossom on them.

I always count the seasons from the equinoxes and solstices, so spring starts (for me) on 21 March, the Spring Equinox, as thereafter days are longer than nights, and so on.
