Take her along with you so she is certain you are not going frolicking. Or make it up to her when you get back. And show her the business papers or briefs. It is only natural that she feels bad.

Take your wife with you?? I did not just assume that you were cheating. If your wife even suspects it, them your problem is bigger than Valentine's Day. You both would need to work on the trust issue.

Personally I feel that if your wife is already filled with love then it won't matter much. We shouldn't wait until one day a year to show our loved one that that are loved. My husband and I do not celebrate that holiday because we already spoil each other so well. Ideas...here's a few of the things I like:

1) Rose covered bed...make love on top of them...tell her nothing is too good for her

2) Roses in my bath water with the lights out and a burning candle. (Help her wash!!!)

3) Indulge her with chocolate covered strawberry's and champagne or cider while giving her a neck and back massage with a scented oil. This is great inside or outside the bath

4) Foot massage

5) Get kinky once in the while! Movies or Toys...whatever floats your boat!

6) Candlelit dinner at home..but you need you best suit or tux. She's worth it and you'll be the most handsome man in her book!

7) Take her out on an unexpected date.

8) Love notes are wonderful keepsakes

9) Send flowers to her job just because...maybe find a company like Proflowers.com where you can set up flowers by the month

10) Compliments Compliments Compliments...Love them!!

I think it's nice your making an effort to figure out what to do... But I agree with the guy above, you either have to earn a living or you have a mistress. If your'e earning a living, plan a nice weekend getaway, or a special dinner involving more than just food, wine and a bang... Do this before you speak with her, so when you tell her you won't be there you have an even more appealing sounding plan for her to help soften the blow. And do it soon, the longer you wait, the more pist she'll be. Anyway, good luck...and don't do it again! lol

If you make it up to her, I'm sure you will be forgiven, if it really is a business trip. Arrange to send flowers on the day, this can be done in advance, and take her out twice, once before, and once after the day.
"Honey, I have a business trip on the 14th, but, [insert big stupid grin here] I will make it up to you!" Pick a restaurant you want to go to, and I will pick one, and we will have two Valentine's celebrations!"
Hope this helps.
A present or two would not hurt, either!

Sounds like you'd better get a bit of control over your own life. It IS your life, by the way, she doesn't own you. If you are that afraid of your wife (and if a woman was that afraid of her husband), I think some counseling is in order.

Try this, "Honey, the boss is sending me to ______, and I'll be gone on 14 February. Do you want to celebrate Valentine's before, or after my trip??"

Big deal,
who says you have to deliver flowers and chocolate specifically on valentines day. Give it to a couple days early and tell her then.
