While Westminster Abbey is famous for its kings and queens (though not all) statesmen, writers and poets, geniuses etc, there are non-famous people buried there:

"The well-to-do could buy the right to be buried in the abbey, a practice which continued until the mid-19th century. So the memorials you see before you do not necessarily denote the final resting place of a British subject of great renown - they are just as likely to showcase the vanity of a rich merchant or lord!"

Buried here also are those who served in an official capacity, like a Dean, Canon or organist; and in its early days the monks and other people associated with it rest here also.

Have you heard of Thomas Parr? He was a long-lived man - died at the age of 152, and was buried here in 1635 at the order of Charles I!

There is also the Unknown Soldier.

I think Westminster Abbey would also, in early times, have served as a parish church, so its parishioners would lie there too.
