There are different kinds of friars (from French meaning "brothers") -- people who dedicate their lives to different church ministries, and varying communities of friars (also called orders, religious congregations), depending on the type of work they do or their lifestyle. Some dedicate their lives to education, some are dedicated to the poor, others to parish work. The habits (robes) they wear will differ from group to group. Franciscans wear the brown with the white rope as a belt. Nowadays thou, many do not wear them for practicality. Some friars are nurses, so it's hard to wear habits while in the hospital administering drugs. Some work in the prison, so wearing habits can be dangerous. If they do, for example in formal functions or in some other days, they wear regular clothes underneath and put the habit above it. In the middle ages, when this type of clothing was more common, I think they might have worn some kind of underwear.

Well his underwear under the robe. Like Tee Shirt and Boxers. Those robes are pretty coarse and rough on bare skin.

It's a cord around his waist, and a long rosary on the side.
The robe also has a hood with it ,too.

What they wear under those robes is anyone's guess. Tighty whities, boxers or maybe even panties.

Sandals. And I'm sure they wear some type of undergarment or it could get pretty drafty
