The best sign to look for is how he reacts to your looks and smiles at him.
If the guy really likes you, then your smiling and looking at him will distract him so much that he'll bump his head into the post, trip over the curb and fall for you.
There is some truth in people's saying when they say that a guy fell for a girl. Some guys really do fall.
Of course, you have to take care and make sure the guy doesn't injure himself when he 'falls' for you.

I would think it would depend on the guy, and how he would want to get the girl's attention. Body language does have a good part of it. Or, simply, just go up and talk with him, and ask him.
