Honesty is like a gradient that you fix for yourself.... the gradient varies for each... if you are honest to yourself and to the principles you have set for yourself, then you will be a happy soul.. and will definitely get a good nights rest.

Honesty is good, but to advice others. In these days, when every one is running behind money, honesty is thrown to the dust bin. Of course, it gives personal satisfaction to the one who follows it.

But, the social and professional life of such people will always be problematic. As now a days, most of the officials are corrupt, one such person in the midst of such people cannot survive peacefully. He will be looked like a leper and no one likes him. Even his officers are not tolerant of him, as he is a hurdle to their income. He is made a scape goat and sometimes may be charged with false allegations and punished. I have seen several such incidences.

Further, his family may also not approve of his policy. It is very rare now a days to find a wife / children who appreciates him. An honest person cannot satisfy the wishes of his family, which makes his family unhappy and family life will be in doll drums.

Eat and let eat should be the policy of one, who wants a peaceful and good professional life.

Even in social life, the honest people are not recognised. We have an example of a honest and efficient PM in Lal Bahadur Sastri, who is not recognised by his own party members. But, they chant the names of not so honest PMs like Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi daily and praise them when ever they get an opportunity.

It will not be smooth and peaceful. Honesty and truth are naked. People can not move freely naked in the society. To be covered to certain extent.
