No. I know too many lazy mean people who have it all and do nothing to earn it. I just hope they pay up in the afterlife. I mean there has to be some balance to make up for all us that struggle.

I don't believe that this is totally true. I find that in my life I have worked very hard as an employee and it sure didn't give me a good life. I am in my early 40's and now I have leaned to take life one day at a time as that is all we really have, there are no guarantees that tomorrow will even get here. Don't get me wrong here, I'm not saying to be the opposite just find yourself a happy medium, take time for the things that you are passionate about and if you don't know what you are passionate about then I would suggest that you spend some time finding out as life does really pass by very quickly

A good life has to deal w/ having direction, and goals..and working towards those goals..
Hard work does not mean slaving away as someone's Bi**h for the next 40 years...
BUT to have the good life...you cannot expect it to fall into your lap, some effort is needed..

Sometimes a good life is given to those who don't work hard at all, but hopefully a good life will come to me after hard work. =)

No, smart work. Hard work just makes you bitter towards all the people who have it better and don't work as hard. hard work gives you a sense of accomplishment, but not necessarily a good life.

No, I think a good life comes from doing the best that you can do and being as kind as you can be to everyone, including yourself, with a reasonable amount of effort.

No, a good life comes from being content with what you are and who you are, and having the time to spend with people that you love.

what's helped me so far is trying to see how i can be more complete and more happy. sometimes being thankful with what you got instead of looking on the other side (the grass seems greener) and just trying to find that which makes you happy is the answer. hard work doesn't automatically give that to you but can be a factor.

It's almost certainly the opposite of that.
Look at mexican immigrants, they work hard all day in the hot sun, and do they have the good life?
Um, no.
