When taking the GRE or LSAT, be sure to select the option that allows schools to contact you. That is how I got application fee waivers to many schools, including Columbia Law and USC Law.

I did not qualify as low-income, but if you do many other schools make that option available. Most school admissions websites have information about applying for these waivers, it just take a little leg work. And do look into applying online - many have reduced or no fees if you do.

I'm not sure about other grad programs, but law schools waive them all the time.

They do it for two main reasons:

1) If you're poor

2) If they want you to attend their school badly (cuz of your grades, LSAT, etc).

Just ask. Worst they can do is say no. I knew a bunch of people who got waivers for the applications fees for a ton of schools they applied to. Many schools even have a section mentioning about getting a fee waiver in their application itself or on their web page in the application section.

Yes! Some graduate programs will waive fees if you complete your application on line. I never knew, but in applying to Vanderbilt this year (go figure, one of the most expensive programs in the country) I found out that if I applied online, it was free! Good luck!!!

Yes, many law schools and graduate schools waive application fees. In many cases, it is simple -- all you must do is ask. In some other cases, however, you must provide proof of your low income status.

Best wishes to you!
