I have heard how much money goes into making a single movie, or put into a race car, or paid to a baseball player, or an actor or actress. Sometimes I wonder whether we are wrong for supporting this, and whether it should be going to people who are impoverished, or maybe going to lower tuition or something like that. Am I right or am I just being a communist lol?

I understand your pain and your thoughtfulness for writing this question. But the fact is entertainment is paid for by consumers for the most part. The government involvement is very limited. IF people stop buying they will stop paying. It is really that simple. I encourage you to rally to anyone who will listen. Make sure the people you are voicing your concerns too are actually voters. Because people who talk the talk but don't walk the walk are wasting your good thoughts and feedback. Volunteer at shelters and give back to your community. Buy American Made products. The next time you make a purchase think about where the money is going to. For instance, I would highly recommend spending your hard earned dollars at stores owned by women, or by minorities. These are the businesses that close down first because they get no support from the community. Does the store give back to the community? Ask them? IF they don't kindly thank them for their time and go elsewhere. All of these things go directly into what you are talking about. Did you know that a lot of immigrants come here to support their families in other countries. So if their price is $.50 more...buy it anyway. You could be assisting a child go to school, or even have a meal. That's why I buy from small businesses whenever I can, because supporting the CEO's 6 or 7 digit income does not benefit the community as a whole. Think about it!

Most entertainment isn't really paid for by the government though, but thru companies. And most are self-sustaining, meaning that even though it cost a lot to run a baseball game or make a movie, customers who come and enjoy the entertainment pay to do so, and in turn, helps pay the producers' bills.

There certainly are lots of problems that could be solved, and usually we can get the government to flow money into them thru petitions and lobbyists. Sometimes it's just a matter of nobody speaking up to the higher authorities that causes problems to go unnoticed.

Yes, less there and more the social, welfare, and healthcare, and to something like saving the rainforest or one of the biomes of the world.
