DVD re writer???

on my dvd rw it says its a multi recorder could any one tell me what this means and how to use it thanks for any help given

Multi speed ie 8x 16x 32x.

Usually means
DVD (+R/W -R/W +R -R) CD (R & R/W)
Possably DVD RAM and Dual Layer BUT see if it shows + and - on it, they mauy be shown with the + above the - otherwise it may only do one and not the other so you would need to make sure you buy the correct disks.
