Subtract 12 from 22.
So 22:34:43 EST would really be: 10:34.43 PM Eastern
You know it's PM because anything after 12:00:00 in 24 hour time is afternoon.
So it reads like the following:
1:00 = 1 AM
2:00 = 2 AM
3:00 = 3 AM
4:00 = 4 AM
....
11:00 = 11 AM
12:00 = 12 PM
13:00 = 1 PM
14:00 = 2 PM
15:00 = 3 PM
...
20:00 = 8 PM
21:00 = 9 PM
22:00 = 10 PM
23:00 = 11PM
24:00 = 12 AM

ok, so there are 24 hours in a day. So 12 pm/noon, is 12, while 3 pm is 15. The second set of numbers is the minutes and the last set of numbers is seconds.
- 22:35:43, would be 10:35 pm and 43 seconds.
