Prisons in the UK are over crowded, should we revert back to the old system of sending them all to live in Australia?

I don't think that's an option any more!
I agree with some of the others - bring back capital punishment for any crime where the sentence would otherwise be life. That'd
a) clear some of the overcrowding in prisons, and
b) act as a deterrent for the more serious crimes.

overcrowding in prison shows on thing that the police are doing there job, if it was the other way what would we say then. and why would Australia want our troubles now. no is the answer to that one.
Why not bring back hanging for people like huntley, whiting etc and all murders, terrosists that are proven guilty then there would be spaces. I am disabled but i would take the job of hangman.

Bring back hard labour for everyone if sent to prison ,then if these offenders new they`re going to be worked to death nearly I'm sure they`d think twice about it.Rock breaking from 6 in the morning till 6 at night every day.man or woman.

Australia wouldn't have them, so that's not an option. Perhaps we should look at holding criminals on prison ships out at sea.
Hard labour could be introduced by drilling holes in the hull and
telling the inmates to bail the water out or sink without trace.

Well, you could always send them to Iraq instead of feeding them in prison. They can be put to work in the building trade. Then, if they escape, let them try to get back to the UK. Just a thought.

Make all our prisons so bad that they would not want to go back to prison again - we can start by geting rid of the PC, Tree-hugging nutters who are the first to shout and scream about the state of the prisons. I say this to them - WHO CARES what you think f.uck off!

No way. They should just sort out the petty crime to the realy crime. Put petty crime on tagging and community service for months on end. Cleaning the streets and helping the old.

No, cram them in three / four to a cell. In fact donate their tele's playstations to their victims, that will free up some room in their cells! Just remember who is the criminal and who is the victim!
