Usually, yes....but I'm sure there is more to your question than what is typed by you. The genes of your father's semen has to travel up into the uterus to impregnate your mother's egg. This is a difficult journey since your mother has natural chemical defenses to anything invading her vagina. The semen needs to be somehow shot up into her, (amazing how God created that function :-) Then the two different sets of genes interact and start developing on their own, their own set of genes with common inheritances from both mother and father, being sustained by the mother's connection, the umbilical cord.
If you are asking about what influences a person while outside the womb, then yes, there are outside factors, called environment that shapes a person's view about life, reality, or whatever. If you are asking what causes birth, then it is a sperm cell, donated by the father that impregnates the mother's egg.
There is such a great true or false phenomenom when creation of a child is made, only one sperm gets into the egg cell, or in some cases, there ore two, or three, or four or more, but only one sexual encounter makes this happen. There can be no multiple fathers by nature. Or mothers, in this sense, since the one (or more) egg is by that woman.
If you are asking about divorces or gay parents or estranged parents, then you are talking about the environment in which the child is raised in. There is nothing more natural than child birth and any thing else would have me raising questions, also.

You mean is one person born of the makings of two people, a mother and a father? Or do you mean that we all come from Adam and Eve?
I believe that we are born of the makings of our mother and father. But to say that we as the human race came from one mother and one father would require a form of faith that I don't possess. If we have genetic problems from having children with our cousins, just think about how bad it would be if we all came from the same blood line. We'd all be deformed and die early ages.

yes usually people are born of one father and mother but sometimes this is not the case. like lets say if a woman is pregnant with her husbands child and she is raped by another man then later on she becomes pregnant because of the rape she is said to have identical fraternal twins. the mother has babies of different fathers but the mother is the same.although these occurances are rare they sometimes occur.
