I think we would save bundles of money, if we simply farmed out our prisoners to places like Thailand, and let them run it. It would cost comparatively little to build a few mega-prisons, and may also by-pass, the European human rights farce. I say treat them bad, Prison is not meant to be a hotel, it is meant to reform. If it cannot reform prisoners, then the next best thing is to stop them wanting to go back, so, MAKE IT HORRIBLE!

Sadly we would not be able to export them - legislation would prevent it because of families visiting rights- though I do have a lot of sympathy with the approach. Instead consider what the Sheriff of Arizona has done. He has built a tent city due to the overcrowding in prisons. He make the prisoners work in chain gangs and when they complain he says - "if you don't like it - then don't come back!". Have a look at the link - it will make you smile if you think prisoners are being mollycoddled. We could do the same and there would be no cause for complaint because these are the conditions our brave troops operate in. I know, I have done it in the depths of winter. http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/m/miracopjail.htm

Someone who harms someone else should have no human rights. I think the turkey farm would be a great place to put them all and feed them, and seriously I think that with low running costs like places in India they should be shipped there, it's ridiculous the money it cost to keep a prisoner. But for non serious criminals it is always best and cheaper to go through the rehabilitation route, prison DOES NOT WORK, the people who are worthy of going to prison and can't be rehabilitated well they just might as well be put into a catapult and sent into space! Or put into incinerators so they can give some energy back to society.

Spot on with your comments, but why do we accept prisoners back into this country to complete their sentences from the likes of Thailand etc. They commit crimes in these countries and know the punishment. They should be made to serve the sentences in their pox-ridden jails and not be allowed to come back to Britain to serve the ir sentence (with parole) in the luxury of SOFT British Prisons and costing us, the taxpayer, about £750 a week fro the privilige of 'saving' them from the hellholes of prisons that they were in. LET THEM ROT!!!!

With you dude! Maybe not ship them abroad ( Too expensive and not fair on other countries to deal with our scum.) But make our own prisons much more strict, scare criminals into not re-offending. Why should prisoners who have no regard for society have luxuries like sattelite t.v, games rooms and gymnasiums. Take all the luxuries away from them and use the space gained to build more cells, then we don't have an overcrowding issue.

I think we could either fly them out to abandoned oil-rigs or put a wall up round Wales and dump them all there. I agree prison is no deterent anymore - the human rights lobbyists obviously never had their bags snatched, homes robbed, grannies mugged nand then saw the cuplprit get a week inside on easy-street.

I think the clue to a realistic answer is in the question, when you say "FARM" them out.

Suffolk is the place, on the turkey farm. Instead of a cull they could eat as many as they want, raw if possible.

Atishoo, atishoo, they would all fall down!!

if you sent them to thailand they would have access to all the lady boys and drugs. hardly a punishment. give them guns and ship them off to iraq. they do not however get any ammunition.

yes, I agree. it would make them think twice if they had to do a stretch in a Bangkok or Bali prison, that's for sure!
