Bad news...the adviser will know you wrote it.
You started your sentence with a lower case "i"....an educated adult would not do that.

If you are over 18 you shouldn't need your mom's permission. Why don't you just actually ask you mom... But if you don't want to, I'd say something like, "I request that my child drop religion because don't believe religion is a necessary part of high school/college education." or say that you learn all you need to know from your own family and church, or just say that you (as your mom) give permission to drop the course. Maybe you can just write that it's ok, and sign you mom's name, and don't even put a reason. Maybe you can write the note that way first, and if your career adviser doesn't think that's good enough, then you can expand on the note. If you make it too long and detailed, perhaps the adviser would question the note. Good luck!

If the problem is specifically that you can't get her permission toh drop the religion course, and not other courses, tell her to write you a note to drop one of your other courses. Then change the name of the course in her note (with an ink eraser, preferably, but be gentle), trying to stick as close to her handwriting as you can (based on what's already there).

Dear "whoever",
My "whoever" wants to drop this course because it sucks. We don't believe in god at our household and need to have "whoever" in a decent frame of mind for the animal sacrifices our family does every Saturday night in the basement while getting drunk on Purell hand cleaner.
Best Regards,
"Whoever's Parent"

Dear sir Mr Ms ?
I hereby give my permission for my son/daughter....? permission to discontinue religious education.
I have discussed this with my husband at length and feel that ? would be better off transferring to another subject that is less controversial in nature
Your understanding of this matter will be appreciated .
Yours sincerely
Marg Simpson

I don't blame you. You should tell her to write it or she's going to hell for it. That's what most religious people say, maybe it will work..
