I agree. Kobe can score from anywhere like Jordan(not just on lay ups like Wade) and can play pressure defense, the two attributes that made Jordan so unique.

So many factors go into determining something like this. For starters, the league changed. What made MJ MJ in the first place. Well, winning rings helped, but it was more than that. It was his high flying, clutch shooting, court savy, pretty good defense, and of course, (not my opinion, but everyone who used him to advertise) his good looks. Kobe has all those factors, except the three more rings. But, the rape thing will definitely hurt him in the court of public appeal. But anyway, who did MJ have to contend with, Dominque?? No Rings, but a high flyer. Clyde? and really, thats about it. Clyde just didn't have the appeal factor, so he was out. Maybe Barkley?? But we all know Barkley was a different athlete, and can't be compared with MJ. But now look at the league. Lebron James, D Wade, AI, T-mac, Vince, J Rich, AI2, not to mention all the bigs that eat up media attention, KG, T Duncan, Shaq, Yao. The league has so many "superstars" that it would be impossible for any one of them to extinguish himself from the rest. When MJ reached his height, Magic and Bird were on the way out. Yes, there was Isiah and Joe, but really, they weren't the high flyers of the NBA. So MJ reached his status by being a one of a kind talent. If he had played during this era, he wouldn't even be the MJ we all know him as. He would be a All-Star no doubt, but an All-Star on a long list of other All-Stars. It would be, MJ dunked from the foul line, but then, so did Kobe and Vince. And then, look at AI2 dunk from behind the back board. Or, MJ hit 7 three's in a game, but then you would have, Kobe dropped 81, or a Suns-Nets game. This isn't taking anything away from MJ, just that there is alot more going on in todays game, which is why, there will never be another MJ...

Who the heck is MJ? He benefitted from a great supporting caste that made him great. What did he accomplish before 1987 nothing Chicago had losing seasons from 1984-1987 then they got Charles Oakley, Scottie Pippen, and Horace Grant that was the upswing for Chicago. D. Wade had winning seasons before Shaq's arrival, he just helped them win the championship. The Lakers were stupid letting Shaq go, Kobe is too selfish to win a championship without Shaq.

Kobe is good but D-Wade in my opinion is closer to MJ. They way he takes over games when his team needs him the most. He led the Heat to their first NBA title.

There's a definate similarity in that "Kobe Bryant's disease" is almost the same thing as "Young MJ disease."

MJ was able to adapt very well though, they won a title in Pipen's SECOND season.

Let's see if Kobe can accomplish that.

i totally agree with you. kobe is the closest to mj. alright, he has not win a ring by himself, but face it, it's his luck to be able to play alongside shaq. and i dont think shaq could win it by himself only. well, wade is not as good as kobe yet. maybe he will in the future, but i doubt it, wade is not as strong and as big as kobe. for lebron, his will and desire to win a game are still one level bellow kobe.
