My elementary school music teacher told me I had no confidence whenever I asked a question, and let me know if I asked a "dumb" question. I hated her. Now I take band, and the teacher is good. Good luck.

I had a music teacher once. She always comments on my attitudes. She also treated me out many times. I think this was how she showed us she appreciated us and all our efforts. This way we enjoyed playing the piano and learn about music. Feedback is good. It helps the student know if they are doing well or not. Encouragement is more effective. Students like to be encouraged and affirmed about their strengths. Weaknesses can be overcome and corrected with a lot of charity making sure you don't offend them. They have to know they are respected and that you are only after their own good.
