Holidays that your company you work for is closed and you still get paid for the day. Usually Christmas and Thanksgiving, sometimes 4th of July and New Years, Memorial Day, and Labor Day.

Typically, most companies have 10 public holidays spread through the year, like Christmas, Presiden't Day, July 4th, New Year's etc. These holidays and the vacation you acrue on your job consist of paid holidays.
