You mean a prem baby right? Well, so they say, but this is not true anymore as neonatal care of prem babes now is so more advanced than it used to be so they are nearly 100% likely to survive these days.

this person means babies BORN in the eighth month of pregnancy not eight months old after BEING born .... and to answer your question i dont really know but i had heard it has something to do with their lungs starting to change for the world of air instead of amniotic fluid ... dont know if its true or not ....

some statistics may say that (if you read some statistics) but in general there is no truth to that, it may have been true in a controlled number of subjects but like I said, not in general.
