I pleaded 'no contest'. The charge was assaulting an officer. I just found out I was felon a couple months ago and cannot believe it. I, seriously, had no idea! What would my grandchildren think?

You need to contact the prosecuting attorneys office that handled your case and inquire about a dismissal. A felony however..... that is seldom removed from your record.

In brief, you don't. If you got convicted, it's on your record. Merely being indicted, or charged and then acquitted, should either have been expunged by now or be so obscure you don't have to be worried. Employers ask whether you've been convicted, not merely charged.

It's still not clear from your description what you actually did, but it probably doesn't matter much at this point unless you're planning a repeat.
