I have been trying to get support for a suicide awareness and prevention group, but I run into obstancles which are people like what the popular vote is. Suicide awareness and prevention is not popular and therefore does not get alot of attention. Why doesn't the World or at least the US care about how many people we lose to suicide in a day?

That's easy. Suicide is a choice a person makes about themselves. If, for what-ever reason, they chose not to live anymore, then who are we to say they can't? I mean, think about it. would you rather see people suffering? I mean if it's really that bad, would you want to have a person continue to live in agony? Is there some greater purpose here that I'm not seeing?
But, to answer your question, it's all about leadership. People need leadership. It makes them feel that there are doings something right. Ever had a person you looked up to, and you did stuff because they said to? Same thing. I hope this helps, best wishes.

because of the popularity, and the big money the star have ...kids today idolize the stars, they think of nothing but how to be like Brittany and who every else is popular this week...kids today or so superficial, they have no identity of their own, they haven't a clue who they are it's total uncharted territory for them to find themselfs, they wouldn't know were to start..and then one day when they have to face they aren't the person they wanted to be...they hit the reality wall and if they aren't already on drugs and alcohol....they will be....the Hollywood dream...is really not a dream of diamonds and fame, it in reality is a nightmare and the diamond is a piece of glass...it's all fake, and too, everyone wants their 15 minutes of fame...and they follow who ever and where ever they think they will find it.

celebrity endorsements work due to humans physiological desire to imitate others. Even to the extent that often when a celbrity kills themselves many fans and young people do so in imitation to examples kurt cobain and even some 16th century poet who for hundreds of years people killed themselves in imitation of him for the lost lover in their own life.
In the general term of indorsements they have a lot of attention and respect already; helps them to be efficient spokesman. That's why companies seek them out and pay big bucks.

Maybe it's because we all know people who are suicidal and they are not willing to help or better themselves, or change when others do offer help.
