I have been surrounded by the wrong people growing up and now I am with the right people, but I do not know what to do. It is like I have been set free and I don't know what to do with my new freedom. How do I become a better person? More polite and positive and all that kind of stuff.

Go with the flow! You have already gained from learning from your past experiences. Now you should appreciate, accept and enjoy your new path. If it wasn't for the past you wouldn't be where you are now! Your attitude has already changed being around that positive group, you just haven't noticed.

You are starting a new life. From this day on you get to make all the decisions and choices that affect you and how you live your life. You made an incredible step by changing the people you are around now. You don't have to forgive the people in your past who hurt you, you only have to let it go so it doesn't have control over your life. Right now you need to do some self reflection which will help you see what kind of person you want to be. Think about it this way. Think about living your day to day life focusing on good things, focusing on making yourself better.

Karma is a sum of all that an individual has done, is currently doing and will do. The results or "fruits" of actions are called karma-phala. Karma is not about retribution, vengeance, punishment or reward. Karma simply deals with what is. The effects of all deeds actively create past, present and future experiences, thus making one responsible for one's own life, and the pain and joy it brings to others. In religions that incorporate reincarnation, karma extends through one's present life and all past and future lives as well. So it shows you that if you live your life doing good and being good then good things will happen for you. If you do bad things or hurtful things towards others or try to cheat then bad things will happen.

Set rules for yourself. Start with something simple, like saying Please and thank you. Practice it in your head. Force your self to say it at the appropriate times to other people. After awhile, it will get easier.

Becoming a better person isn't easy. It takes alot of work. That's why there are so many screwed up people in this world. They took the easy way.
Just pick one thing. practice it in your head, then try to do it in real life. Once you've got that down, pick another. It's will be tough. You will slip from time to time. You can do this, if you choose to. Best wishes.

Just live your life. I often get down on myself for being shy and lonely, but when I'm having my good days, I realise that I'm not worrying about all that, I'm just living life in the present without regard to the past or future.

Good Luck!

I would say it takes time to trust again. God can only set you free. Me personally I find that my life is moving slowly into new directions, but no rush, God is still working in me.
