I'm from the States and, of course, this is the first I'm hearing of this. Supposedly it was accidental; friendly fire, but I'm not buying it. The news actually showed the man's plane exploding and right after the "accident" you could hear the U.S pilots saying, "We're going to jail for this." Of course they were let off the hook and did not have to take any responsibility for what they did. If it was accidental then why would they immediately be concerned about consequences? The British pilot who lost his life for OUR fictitious war was never mentioned by name and nobody ever actually apologized. Why does the U.S never show "Americans" dying but it's okay to watch people from other countries die? Deplorable, shameful and unforgivable in my opinion. Any thoughts?

Listen up morons: I am referring to the incident (in 2003) in which two U.S PILOTS shot down a British plane-not the incident on the ground that you keep running back to for safety. The U.S government kept the 2003 incident so covered up that the only reason I was able to hear PORTIONS of what happened is because Britain leaked it to the press. If it was an accident and most Allied soldiers feel badly about it then why did Britain feel the need to alert the press?BECAUSE THE REPORTS WE GET IN THE U.S ARE CENSORED AND MANIPULATED BEFORE WE HEAR THEM.I'll bet that ALL of the comments I recieved condoning this action were from "Americans".
I didn't ask to be born an "American" citizen, but I was. Therefore I can say whatever I want and guess what? I DON'T HAVE TO LEAVE, I can scream it out loud wherever I want. You should all join the service,Bush would be very proud that his plan is working. You are perfect "American" zombie-soldiers,raised by the idiot box that never lies. God Bless America

Oh- almost forgot something. My burqas are sent directly to me from Condoleeza Rice. Colin Powell and I are her top customers. I'm not sure where SHE gets them-maybe she makes them herself, and she never forgets to include my complimentary "Don't Mess With Texas" fridge magnet/coaster set. Poor pathetic drones, I pity you. Think for yourself for once. Am I "Un-American" for being upset that Bush sent another 20,000 troops to die? If you aren't upset you are not human, I don't care where you are from. It's all good though cuz this is his last term.HAHAHAHAHAHA

I think what's disturbing, aside from the fact that a soldier lost his life, is that for three years his widow was told this tape did not exist

They didn't shoot a British pilot. They accidentally shot a missile at British soldiers.1 was killed and 1 was wounded. It's not all the pilots fault entirely because they were told it was OK to engage because they were good targets.Unfortunately these things happen in war.I'm not saying it's right, just that it happens.I do agree that the British our allies should have been contacted right away.No matter what happens to those pilots they will carry the burden of taking an allies life to their graves.I believe the incident with the British plane that you refered to happened in 2003.

Wow really?! I didn't hear about this and if it is true, which I do believe you because I have such little respect now for what's going on in Iraq and all. It's really really sad that we have such arrogance in our country that now it's spilling over to the military, of course. I feel really really bad for the family of that British soldier. I don't believe in friendly fire what so ever. Sure there are exceptions but how convenient to shoot anyone during war and get away with it by saying oh yeah it's just a friendly fire. Bull-Sshit!

no i didnt see it on tv but here would be why the US shot it down if it happend

the British Pilot did not have his code on meaning each fighter plane no matter what they are send out certain codes to let us know if they are friendly or enemy and if they are sending the wrong code out or not no code at all and alot of them dont have them on most of the time that is why we get alot of friendly fires in the sky

but the reason they dont show any American dead on tv is because the Military has to tell the living that there son/daughter/husband/wife has been killed instead of letting them find out first by watching it on tv I mean think about it how would you feel if you had some one over there and saw them dead on tv before the military came to you to let you know it would be messed up wouldnt it

Maybe if you pull your head out of your back side, you'll find that it was a British Solider killed not a pilot. If you don't like it MS Stateside, how about you pack your chit, and hit the road. Don't let the door hit you in the backside on the way out. Do you buy your burqas off the rack, or make them yourself?

HMMM are you sure you got your facts straight?

Are you positive the news actually showed the British plane exploding?

That's funny because the event you are refering to had NOTHING to do with another plane being shot down. It was two American A-10 Aircraft that mistakenly fired their guns at a British Tank on the ground. There were several british tanks on the ground and the US Planes were told there were no friendlies in the area, So they though the tanks were mobile missile launchers and made a couple of strafing passes with their 30mm cannon.

Your Statement is so full of BS its not funny. I dare you to... no wait.. I DEMAND you actually watch the ENTIRE video

I dont give a damn what you "buy". for you to sit there and think our guys did this in cold blood. intentionally is absolutely sickening. WATCH THE DAMN VIDEO! when the pilots are told that those may be friendlies and then it is confirmed that it is friendlies and that one man is killed and another injured. LISTEN TO THEIR REACTION!.

It is OBVIOUS you have not seen the video because you claim it showed something that it does not even come close to showing.

Before you go off half-****** and start making slanderous and pathetic claims, how about you get your facts straight first! Also you claim the US will show others getting killed but not Americans. First off the video was being kept secret by the US. it was the British that released it public. And we have released footage of Americans getting killed in Friendly Fire Engagements. DUring the first gulf war there was an incident where an Apache Helicopter fired on a Bradley fighting vehicle and killed the crew. I remember watching that video (gun camera footage infrared) as part of a documentry of what happened. That pilots reaction was the same as these two pilots here. Absolute horror at what happened. In that case the plot could barely fly the helo back to base as he was sobbing and crying over what had happened. the other crewman kept trying to calm him down.
Here is the Video to the current incident:

HENRY B: You are right about it not being a plane, but soldiers on the ground. But the US Planes did NOT fire a missile at them. Watch the Video. They make a couple of strafing passes with their GAU-8 30mm cannon. THIS event with the British soldier getting killed on the ground was in 2003. and was a seperate incident from the plane shootdown. It is only now getting a lot of media attention due to the investigation in Britain.

Back to the ASKER...

1.Supposedly it was accidental; friendly fire, but I'm not buying it.

A: nothing supposed about it. it WAS accidental. They were told there were no friendlies in the area. They repeatedly tried to confirm that.

2. The news actually showed the man's plane exploding...

A: No it didnt and this is proof that you never even watched the video. how about you DO WATCH IT!
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=e06da463d7&p=1

3. Of course they were let off the hook and did not have to take any responsibility for what they did.

A: What greater punishment could there be than the guilt of knowing you killed a man by accident that in other circumstances you would have layed down your life to protect.

4. The British pilot who lost his life for OUR fictitious war was never mentioned

A: His name is L/Cpl Matt Hull of Wiltshire, England and I dont think there is anything fictitious about the Iraq war. It is real. people are dying. cant get any more real than that.

5. Deplorable, shameful and unforgivable in my opinion.

A: You are right. You Are deplorable, shameful, and unforgivable in my opinion. You owe an Apology to every man and woman who has ever worn a uniform, Both US and British.
I won't be holding my breath for it however.

6. Any thoughts?

A: $#^*&(^)$ ^%&$ *&^%^$!!!

Listen up morons: I am referring to the incident (in 2003) in which two U.S PILOTS shot down a British plane-not the incident on the ground that you keep running back to for safety.

NOW YOU LISTEN UP!
Both the British plane shootdown and the Attack on British ground troops were BOTH in 2003. The incident that involved two American pilots and their planes and where one of them says "I think we're going to jail" AS YOU MENTIONED!!!! was the one with the ground troops.

The British plane was shot down by a Patriot Surface to Air Missile Battery. NO US PILOTS WERE INVOLVED WITH THAT ONE.

Now who is running for safety!?!?
you are only making yourself look more and more foolish the more you keep this up.

On March 23, an American Patriot Missile Battery shot down a British plane killing the pilot and navigator, Flight Lieutenant David Rhys Williams, 37, and Flight Lieutenant Kevin Barry Main, 35, near the Kuwaiti border.

And on March 28, British soldier Matty Hull, 25, was killed when the Scimitar armoured vehicle he was driving north of Basra came under fire from a pair of American ground attack aircraft. (A-10's)

It is this second incident on March 28th involving two American planes and a British soldier on the ground, that is in the news right now. This is the event where one of the pilots says "We're going to jail."

Thats not all he said by the way. After hearing that there was a friendly killed. he says Oh my F**ing god! I think I'm going to be sick!"

It was clearly an accident . I heard the radio transmission from when it occurred . There are enough rumors out there without starting more . You took words out of context and added a few of your own . It was a tragic mistake . You think there aren't enough terrorists out there that they need to go shooting the people there that are on their side ?Your comments are shameful and deplorable . But of course , liberals are perfect , aren't they . NOT
