Academics, does your institution allow you to use your office/equipment for personal use?

Yes. With the hours I put in, it's expected.

They're replacing my computer this year (it's 4 years old), and I was shocked (and delighted) to hear that I even have the option of taking the old one home to use for as long as I want.

However, we're not supposed to take home things like paper clips and folders and the like. Neither are our grad students, although on their small stipends, they're tempted.
