I am TTC, and we are planning a short trip next week. I heard somewhere about concerns regarding travel when you could be newly conceived and not even know it (due to the gap between ovulation and period).
I cannot delay this trip by more than two weeks since I am expecting a family members visit by that time, and after that, the place we are planning to go will be just too hot.
The bummer is that the same two weeks I have available for travel is during the gap period when I wont know whether our efforts have resulted in a pregnancy!
Is there any danger to a fertilized egg if you travel especially by air? Its said the pressure inside a plane cabin can cause miscarriages. (My sister's friend travelled by plane and miscarried, she did not even know she was pregnant). Or have women here travelled when newly conceived without any problems? Is this a myth?
This could be my first and I dont want to take any chances. Has any one heard of these concerns and are they valid?? Pls help.

Ok, here is what I read in a book called I'm Pregnant. It says that there are MANY myths about air travel while pregnant but they are not known to be true. The only reason you would need to refrain from flying is if it makes you uncomfortable towards the end of pregnancy. From what the book says there was a myth that cabin pressure would cause miscarriage but this has been researched and is not true. (at least this is what the book says) My personal opinion is this.... we spend so much time waiting and worrying aboout whether we are preg between the time of ovulation and period that it can almost drive ya crazy. Go on your vacation and have a good time. Try to relax and let your body take care of whatever may be growing inside. Good Luck and have a safe trip!

There must be SOME medical standing on the concern of traveling, but I don't know how common the problems occur. I was in that gap and got called home for a funeral this summer, which required me to fly trans-Atlantic there and back, and I'm 37 weeks now and counting. No problems here, first baby.

My suggestion would definitely be to call your doctor and he/she can definitely give you a better response. However, I too have read (pregnancy book), that high altitudes are not good for expecting women especially if you are not adapted to high altitudes. I had a trip planned since last July for this March, I am now 12 weeks pregnant and I cancelled it just in case! Need less to say, I live in Florida and that is as low as you get in the US so I am definitely not use to high altitudes.
So again, ask your Dr., and I wish you and hubby the best of luck!! I hope you are pregnant!!

Maybe you should call your Gyno and ask.
My vote is that you should go on the trip and enjoy!
