I and my wife love train trips and are thinking of doing something similar in India. We were told that Palace-on-Wheels is a good bet. Has anyone taken this train? What are your impressions? Thanks in advance,

I too love train travel, but the Indian Pacific is the longest trip I've been on.
But I have found a couple of sites with reviews of "The Palace on Wheels", you might like to read them - the train sounds luxurious and the trip wonderful:

Palace-on-Wheels is a good bet but it may be costly to many people and you need to book atleast 1 year in advance to get a ticket on it.(some times its booked fully 3 years in advance).
so now you know how much famous is this train.

Double occupancy rate for single person is 2065.00$ in off season and 2695.00 in peak season (Per Person)
