My entire childhood I was told I was smart and WOULD go to college. Freshman weekend all I could think was, "This isn't for me," but I enrolled and went because I felt like I had no choice. Half a semester into it I was terribly depressed and realized what a huge waste of time, money, and resources better spent on those who wanted them it was, and quit.
My advice to you, though, is finish the semester you're on, and don't re-enroll. Get a job, try a bunch of stuff, and find your niche. You can always go back later if you change your mind.
College isn't for everyone, not even all the smart people. Good luck.

It's very good to get an education. But perhaps community college isn't the best place for you to get the education that will help you succeed in your life. Perhaps there is some other sort of training that will help you. Think about what you want to do for your career goals, and then choose the training that will help you achieve that. It could be something as varied as an apprenticeship to beauty school. But do educate yourself. It'll give you a better future.
You might also ask yourself, since you apparently liked high school, what it is about your situation now that makes you not like college. And then see if there is perhaps another institution you could attend that is more like what you'd prefer.
Another possibility is that you have chosen classes in a field that you don't like. Perhaps now is the time to examine your choice or major or other studies that you have done and evaluate whether you'd be happier in another field. For example, when I started out full-time at a university, I was studying Computer Science. One day, while working on a homework assignment in the computer lab, I realized that computer programming was not what I wanted to do with my life. It took me a while after that to find what I wanted to do, but I'm very happy with my choice of field now. And I've had much more schooling than I would have planned then.
Finally, I think it could very well have to do with the fact that you're missing so much class -- since you're not there, you don't know what's going on in the classes as much. Not knowing what's going on might make you feel like you're not doing as well, which in turn might make you not like the class.

It depends on what you love. If you think you can, for example, get a job that you like that pays enough for you to survive then that's fine. For example, a friend I know was an undergrad in college for 6 years... simply because he didn't know what to do. He hated college and realized he was just wasting money.
So he decided to drop out and now he does something he likes - web design. He designs sites for various companies by free lancing. He gets an alright salary and is still doing what he loves.
On the other hand - if you really love a subject (such as biology) and you know the only way to get a career going in that path is through college then it could be a good idea to stay in college. There are also a lot of good jobs out there that require only a little college (like a certificate, associates degree, etc...).

If you really hate college that bad, you should drop out for a while. Maybe you are just burned out on school. I didn't go to college right after high school for this reason (I was a straight A student with my choice of colleges). I am now going back to school and love it. Nothing is permanent, you can always go back later. You are right, you are wasting your money right now. Take a break!

Only in America do people depreciate education so much. I say, take a semester off and travel to countries like India and Africa, and meet some people who would cut off their arm to have the opportunities you have. College will open so many more doors than "dropping out". If you are bored in your classes maybe you are just a boring person... any single class can be fun if you make it fun.

i dropped out at the end of last year, i HATED school and never did well
not being at school is misery, i dont see any friends i cant get a full time job anywhere
and im no dullard i left school because it wasnt my thing, every night for most of my life ive been on sites like newscientist.com
many others, researching anything that catches my fancy, the idea of work for no purpose just sucked so bad, had lots of friends at school too and i miss them
i really wouldn't recommend it unless you've hated school your whole life
if worst comes to worst like in your situation try to change schools even if you have to do it a million times it will be worth it in the end

You're really correct. College is fine if you have a definte career path, but it's a waste of time for many... probably most.
There are a lot of liberal arts courses they teach that are a waste of time, the same as they teach pointless subjects in public schools. For example, psychology, sociology, statisttcs, ect.

If you don't like school, then try taking a year or a semester off and try living without the benefit of education. You will probably realize how important school is when you are waiting tables for peanuts, and feeling like you are stuck.

i agree to you, everyone hates school, but you can only find formal education there, you like or not, it is your passport on your success although sometimes it doesnt but it will help you a lot in the distant future.
another, go find your peers with same interests, explore this new stage in your life, just enjoy
