Because there is no such thing as white history. Many african americans lost knowledge of their origin when their ancestors were brought to this country through slavery. There are many people who know their family is from africa, but not a specific country. White people, on the other hand, usually have the luxury of knowing their heritage. Which happens to be pretty widespread. There aren't enough months in the year to have an Irish history month, Russian history month, etc etc. We can't have a "white history" month because there is no such thing.

You are wrong Sandi Beach. We had Christmas, but, the blacks didnt like it, so, they made up Kwanzaa in 1967. It didnt exist, they even made up the word and its meaning. We used to celebrate both Washington and Lincolns birthdays, and got paid days off for both, "Foul" said the black man. So we put both together and called it Presidents Day, however we turned around and gave MLK a day all to himself right after. There are plenty more. Seek and dont just make stuff up.

I'm assuming you're trying to say "the other holidays we have ARE for all races". Actually we celebrate other ethnic holidays in the US also heard of cinco de mayo? Furthermore, the US celebrates many religious holidays as well, ie Catholic, Jewish, etc. America is a melting pot and it's one lousy month-deal w/ it.

sandi, rotflmao.

what's tragic to me is blacks allowing non-blacks to tell them when to celebrate their own heritage. in college, i sponsored a "so it isn't february: celebrate our heritage year round".

on the other hand, i have the same complaint about xmas. it's a shame the sentiment and feeling can't last all year long. sad when some think doing something nice twice a year makes them the cat's meow or the bee's knees. anyway, i like observing different holidays, but i go all out for my favorites.;)
