BECAUSE BOYS ARE UNDER THE MISCONCEPTION THAT ALL GIRLS CARE ABOUT ARE BARBIE DOLLS AND TEA PARTIES.
THEY DON'T STOP TO CONSIDER THAT WE MIGHT LIKE SPORTS AS WELL.
BACK IN THE DAYS OF INCESSANT CHAUVINISM, (NOT THAT IT STILL DOESN'T EXSIST? IT WAS OUT OF THE ORDINARY FOR GIRLS TO TAKE ANY INTEREST IN SPORTS.
IT GOES BACK TO THE OLD ADAGE WHERE A WOMAN'S PLACE IS IN THE KITCHEN.
BOYS SEE SPORTS AS A MAN'S ARENA AND HAVE A HARD TIME ACCEPTING A WOMAN INTO THAT ARENA WITH THEM, AS THEIR EQUAL.

Sports show alot of physical strength and stamina that supposably (and occasionally does) impress the ladies. Where as ladies love to look fabulous to catch the eyes of the men. Humans being mammals have the instinct to reproduce. Therefore anything that ups our chances to attracting a mate we'll be prone to doing. The guys that like shopping found that looking good instead of being necessarily strong and built have attracted the mates they perfer. Whereas the girls who are into sports have noticed the same. And the word mate can mean partner, friend and spouse. It's like a biological/psychological outlook on human nature.

I don't know why. I like proving guys wrong though, when they bet me I don't know the rules or plays of football. I understand football and watched the super bowl and even my husband was impressed with me, not to mention the other guys there.
I heard on TV the morning before that 45% of the super bowl veiwers were women, and I thought wow, that does not surprise me since most men have that on and their wives have to either find something else to do or enjoy it with them.
I still have questions about basketball, but I'm all over baseball, I played softball in HS :-) boys are just boys and will think "chiks" just are into fu-fu stuff like make-up or clothe sizes and dresses. LOL....I like sports but have no clue about who will be in next years super bowl, that is what they like talking about.
ps, my husband and I Really enjoyed watching the Olympics, it is so much fun watching the top athletes compete and do their best, it is so much an art form now, its really amazing.

So you're telling me you know the difference between a 3-4 and a 4-3 defense when we talk football? there is more to sports than knowing when someone scores a touchdown.
Soccer formations? My point exactly.

That was a general statement ...... boys probably think specific girls do not understand specific sports. Another guy may not understand a specific sport ...... as is the case with everyone. The same guy that may not believe girls understand sports would ...... I assume .... not understand many sports that exist. Unless he is a sports expert or fanatic.

It's not that we think we're rather smarter, because that would be a lie. It just catches mens attention more, although, women can love it JUST as much. Any man that thinks girls dont understand sports is an idiot.

Because unfortunately, the majority of women do not show as much interest in sports as men do, even though some women are very passionate about it.

i totally agree with you !! not all boys but yes some boys try to show that they are superior to girls & that girls dont understand sports !! i am a GIRL but i love soccer , tennis & cricket & i do understand them very well !!
