Yes! If Congress can create cushy health insurance programs for themselves on the dime of American citizens, then the rest of America certainly should be afforded quality health care. Congress seems to have forgotten one thing. That is that they are the servants of the people; we are not theirs. Since many members of Congress claim to be Christian, including our not so illustrious president, they would do well to remember one precept which Christ taught his disciples: "A servant is not greater than his master: neither is he who is sent greater than he who sent him." To this I shall add my own commentary: Neither should the master want while the servant lives a life of luxury. Collectively we have sent members of Congress to Washington through our vote to act as our servants. But they have forgotten this simple lesson in humility which Christ applies to any servant. It's time for America to remind them once more.

I think the health care system needs to be reformed, why does a band-aid cost 5 dollars at the hospital when I can go across the street and get 100 for 5 dollars, if we have government funded heath care it's still our money (tax dollars) that the health care system is cheating us out of

Yes, not everybody can get a job, and not all jobs provide quality health care. If somebody without much money - even if they're working several minimum-wage jobs - gets sick or injured, they often have to give up everything they have in order to pay for their treatment - or they just don't get treated.
By providing health care to everyone, we would be helping to lift people out of poverty. Many homeless men and women are homeless because they can't hold a job because of their health issues, either mental or physical. If they could get the medicines they need, they would stand a chance at finally entering, and staying in, the work force.
Finally, kids don't get to choose whether or not their parents have well-paying jobs with health insurance. They do not deserve to suffer because their parents can't provide for them like they are expected to.

What is your definition of affordable? Before we make health "affordable" as a right, let's look at education where there are some inner city school districts spend over $10,000 per student with disastrous results. Private schools would be far cheaper with better results.
Be careful what you ask for (in government run programs); you may get it.

Equal access to all services is a tenet of our society. Robbing people to subsidize the poor choices that lazy people make was a tenet of The Soviet Union.
Health care is a service, to which anyone may have the privilege to access, so long as they appropriately compensate a willing health care provider.
Health care is NOT and CANNOT be a "right."
Perhaps you should read the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America to get an understanding of the "inalienable rights" that each of us are endowed with:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed, by their Creator, with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."
IN OTHER WORDS,
* The freedom to be left the fcsk alone.
* The freedom to do whatever you want and when you want - so long as you adhere to other people's right to be left the fcsk alone.
