I was set on the girl I wanted to marry and things were great until about a year and a half ago. I was with this girl for about 8 years and come to find out in the end that she had started cheating on me for the last month or two. I don't talk to the girl anymore and most of the feelings for her have gone away, and there is another girl that I'm interested in, but am hesitant to approach her b/c I'm afraid it won't work and I'll have to deal with this crap all over again. How do I put the past behind me and try to go out with this other girl?

First: Cheating is bad action and big mistake, it is not fault.
you need to relax for at least 4 months after seperation, get on with your life, have a great life with the new woman, take her as a fiancai, my advice, know her but don't touch her until the marriage, be finacially comfortable and emotionly and mentally satisfied, leave the physically after the marriage.
know her family, show her your family, show her your photos when you were young, tell her about your family in a positive way, just the good things you appreciate about your family and about her, be romantic in a family and freindly environment.

Say crap. How do u stay with a woman for 8 years witout marrying her. Its so disheartening to be in a relationship where a guy professes commitment but he cannt do the real thing. believe me I dont codone what she did by cheating because it doesnt solve a thing, but what I know is I would have walked out long time back. I would rather be single than a relationship that long without marriage.
im sorry it hurts but she waited, hurting and slowly dying until she went low enought to cheat coz she had long lost her dignity in a way.
She probably wasnt sure if u were really still there and wanted the thrill of knowing somebody is interested in her. i dont even think she had her heart in it.
When u meet anybody new, dont make ur ex a monster, just know u contributed.

all the best in your search and hope no more xxxxxxlong relationships without keeping your promise. It makes such a difference
