Well, there are only three generations that included a 20GB model, ranging from G2-G4. The G2 model won't offer any sort of USB support, so that's not the model you have. That means you're either in posession of a G3 or a G4 (aka Photo). The G4 has a standard click-wheel like the Nano, while the G3 has just a basic scroll-wheel and the four click-wheel buttons are located in a row beneath the screen. If you have the G3 model, you will only be able to charge it with a Firewire cable, but you'll be able to sync it by either USB or Firewire. If you go to an Apple store, you should be able to get the proper Firewire-to-Dock sync/charge cable, but the only third-party manufacturer that I know of that makes these now is Zip-Linq, which also makes charging devices that will work with a home outlet and/or car cigarette lighter. The cable that you'd need to buy from them is model #ZIP-DATA-A02, the wall adapter is model #ZIP-PWR-ACA, and the cigarett lighter adapter is either model #ZIP-PWR-DCA or #ZIP-PWR-DCA2.

The good news is that if you still have the Nano, there's nothing wrong with using that until you can get the items necessary to charge your G3 iPod. Just try not to use it until you can charge it.

I have three answers. You can either sell that one and get a new one. The second answer is then probably should get a new battery because you said that the battery you were using is dead. My last answer is instead of buying a new IPOD, just get a new IPOD charger. How about those three answers? I hope those help.
