A friend of mine from Minnesota told me we do. She told me our accents were very different from the rest of Illinois. Is this true?

Yup y'all have a distinct Midwest/western Accent. Not north western like Minnesota and Wisconsin. and not fully Midwestern like Ohio and Indiana. But in all fairness Minnesota and Wisconsin have more of a German immigrant accent.

I'm from Chicago & ive been told I have an accent, yet I don't think so.

Not that I know of, even if so....atleast its not as bad has the New York accents(no offense to anyone)

irish polish,lithuanian,german, czech (generations arriving in 19th and 20th century from europe0 all added quirky,distinct pronounciation to chicawga style english,the thing=duh ting move the transformer over there move duh transformr ovr dere ya gotta move da whole amount tadah bottm like dat, andon't ferget ta carryovr duh seven.lady bird johnson once remarked about lbj's southern style of politics and talking,I think to a news reporter"I think it's so naace that we fahnally have a preyesident in the whate house who talks without any accent...gday
