President George Bush is an evil and stupid man. He personally started the war in Iraq because his family is in the oil business. We have no reason to be there and should pull out immediately. Let the Sunnis and Shiites kill each other—it’s none of our business.

Those planes crashing into the World Trade Center were a part of a conspiracy orchestrated by President Bush and a host of other nameless, unknown individuals. They wired the towers with explosives so the buildings would collapse when President Bush’s co-conspirators crashed the planes, killing over 3,000 innocent American civilians. No plane ever hit the Pentagon—that was a missile fired by our own forces.

President Bush and the American military are bad people for making the Taliban terrorist prisoners at Guantanamo stay up late at night after a full day of rest, three nutritious meals, a US government-supplied copy of the Koran, and opportunity to pray five times.

Republicans are evil and stupid. They all have hidden agendas and are in politics only to further their own economic interests.

White people are evil and stupid. They have secret meetings to devise ways to harm other races and cultures.

Christians are evil and stupid. Religious freedom and expression is encouraged in America, unless you are Christian.

American soldiers are war-mongering Neanderthals who can’t think for themselves, unless they oppose the war like Watada who is lauded as a hero for refusing to deploy to Iraq after accepting military pay and benefits for four years.

Killing is OK, as long as the ones being killed are fetuses in the wombs of women who would be inconvenienced with a child.

Successful people in America should be required to give a large portion of their earnings to those Americans who choose not to work and to have multiple illegitimate children.

Just think if Hillary Clinton wins the race for President with Obama Hussein Barack as her running mate. The first female President and the first black/Muslim VP! Now there’s a reason to vote! Who cares about issues? Woo-hoo! Come on--you don't really believe he's not Muslim, do you?

He has given some reasons:
1. He tried to draw a possible link between Saddam and terrorism.
2. He claimed Saddam had WMDs.
3. (after no WMDs were found and the damage done) He stated it was because Saddam was a dictator.

It should also be noted that some feel it was due to oil. And a smaller number feel it could have been to protect Israel, Saudi Arabia or any other nation within the region.

Either way, it was to "help fight the war on terror." Unfortunately, many experts (such as Rohan Gunaratna) agree that the Iraq war has made the region less stable and made the war on terror more difficult.

Wikipedia has a pretty good article on the Iraq War (I was surprised at how detailed it was) - check it out in my sources.

To change the regime and stop Saddam Hussein from killing all non arabs on the planet with fearsome Weapons of Mass Destruction, weapons so advanced that they have a cloak of invisibility around them so they cannot be detected. He also needed to stop the Iraqi`s from producing any more terrorists, which apparently grow on trees in Iraq. Oh, yeah i almost forgot. Iraq was failing to comply with UN security resolutions, odd is`nt that the US and Israel broke more than Iraq ever did.

Bush has ruined a lot of lives through this act of mindless stupidity, more than he has helped.

ahh a good question, you won't find many intelligent answers.

First, the US does not, and did not get oil from Iraq in any measurable amounts, we get most of our oil from south america an some from saudi arabia. The Saudis are long time allys of the US, they are one of only 5 nations in the world who use the F15 fighter, an absolute advantage in military for the few countries we've shared it with.

News Flash, Iraq's oil went to Europe when Saddam was in power and what oil leaves the country still does.

The real reason he promoted the war and started it was because history is repeating itself.

Everyone says WW2 started when Hitler invaded Poland in 1937.

I blame European ego for this, because it is not true. WW2 started when Japan invaded Manchuria in 1932 and the League of nations began passing resolutions ordering Japan to stand down. The league was able to do nothing, it was as ineffective and corrupt as the UN is now.

The UN passed 14 resolutions against Saddam between Desert Storm and the current war.

He defied them all.

This was was an a attempt to do what the world was too cowardly and selfish to do in 1932, it was an attempt to enforce international law as passed down from the governing communal body.

Remember that UN that Bush's bashers love to act like they support?

The US is currently enforcing the UN security council mandates against Saddam.

That is not the real reason, only a part of the reason.

The main reason, the thing no one wants to talk about is Iran.

Iran has spent the last decade building an "in house" war machine, they manufacture tanks, planes, guns and ammunition on a scale unmatched on a per captia basis since Nazi Germany.

This is a nation preparing for WAR.

Saddam was the major obstacle to Iran, however he has been so militarilly weakened since Desert Storm that he would be easy for them to pick off now.

On the other hand, where Saddam had been weakened by sanctions, 150000 US troops and a growing Iraqi army of 210000 poorly trained but improving troops are a much better deterant.

That was the idea, but all has not gone according to plan.

I am not now nor was i in the begining in favor of this war, I think we should have invaded Iran if anyone, and probably no one at the time we did.

I have the perspective of having fought in the last war in Iraq and actually paying attention to events because I don't root for politicians like sports teams.

Bush is not the greatest president ever, but he's not evil and he's not the worst, he's a lot better than Jimmy Carter for instance.

Unfortunately when it comes to global war, Blair is just a puppet for Bush to play with. He just uses Blair to gain european support to invade any country he likes...usually for oil. "Hussien needed to be taken out". Why? He kept control over a country that was rife with sectarian violence. Look at the state it's in now for goodness sake! Yes he murdered innocents (I am in no way condoning that) but how many innocents have been killed since Saddam was over thrown??? More were killed by US bombs on the first day of the war than Saddam killed (or had killed) in his life time. The reason we never heard about that was because the US military censored every second of footage that reporters recorded.
"We should have gone in and taken Pol Pot out, and then Idi Amin. " Why didn't we? Simple...no oil. That's what it all boils down to...OIL! Iran is next. I wouldn't be surprised if Bush, once again, orchestrates another 9/11 and then somehow blames it on Iran. After all, the US oil reserves are getting pretty low again, Iran has plenty, let's invade. Blair will be replaced by Gordon Brown, who as the new PM will do anything to gain the trust of Bush, including sending Brit soldiers to their death on Iranian soil...once again in the name of oil.

On delusions he's saving the world. All countries not pro-US are EVIL and bent on world domination. Ironic isn't it.

It's all b.s. because Iraq was a better place before the war for, most Iraqi at least. They should throw him out themselves.

Saddam and Osama are not bosom buddies. Seriously, their ideologies don't match.

There is no WMD. Most likely Saddam wants Bush to think he has WMD. sucker!

Why does when it comes to Iran building up their military, they're preparing for WAR! cos they're a regional power that's not pro-USA? They have large influence over the Shi'ite Muslim across the Mid-East? They too, have oil? and they haven't got nuclear weapons yet (yeah, there still time to invade!)

So, my advice to Iran is, get nukes ASAP. It does wonders for North Korea.

aside from ladyblue being completely misinformed this is a very good question. the real reason is that the first time we went to iraq saddam/iraq signed treaties, treaties that laid out what was and was not ok for saddam to do, things such as any attack of any kind on his neighboring countries that was not an attack of retaliation was strictly forbidden. saddam signed and agreed to allow un investigators into his country at any time without hesitation. saddam signed and agreed not to build any more weapons of any kind. but especially wmd's. you see the united states put saddam hussein in power in the first place we left him in power the first time, under the agreement that he would follow the treaties to the letter, or WE the UNITED STATES would come back and take him out of power. these treaties were signed with the USA because again we put him in power and we are the ones responsible if he had caused a war in the middle east. so when saddam hussein violated those treaties 39 seperate times, after we had sanctioned him and threatened him 38 times, and just before the election in 2000 PRESIDENT BILL F'N CLINTON SIGNED AN INTER OFFICE WHITE HOUSE MEMO STATING THAT THE SITUATION IN IRAQ HAD GONE TO FAR AND THE USA WOULD BE INVADING. when George Bush stepped into office the plan to invade iraq and it was simply delayed by the events of 9/11. then during the conflict in Afghanistan one of al quaida's top men was wounded, and somehow apparently without Saddam's knowing about it, he ended up in the main hospital in Baghdad. even though anytime any one attempted to do anything in iraq behind Saddam's back they were put to death in some of the most violent ways imaginable. Big Bush never had any plans to take Saddam out of power he believed that there could be a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

the last thing that is never mentioned any more is that during the standoff between Saddam and the UN plains trains and trucks were constantly leaving Baghdad and heading into neighboring countries such as Turkey Iran and Egypt, the whole time with the USA warning him that if he did not allow the UN inspectors into the country we would invade. we gave him a time line, then at the zero hour Saddam allowed the UN inspectors into his country as the last shipment of whatever was leaving the country.

lastly the UN inspectors and the US inspectors were not sent in just to search for WMD's but also to search for the ability to quickly produce WMD's. the 9/11 commissions report states very clearly that Saddam had the immediate ability to at any time begin the production of WMD's with no more than a one day turn around of the facilities. this was the final straw and the last clear violation of the original treaties. you wont ever hear any of this on CNN or ABC or NBC or even FOX. this does not make for good news or headlines. but it is all public knowledge and not to difficult to find. i hope i have helped you to truely understand what is happening in iraq.

"Leaving Saddam Hussein unfettered with weapons of mass destruction, leaving him to his own devices to undoubtedly cause a war, is not only irresponsible but it is the duty and responsibility of the United States of America to remove Saddam Hussein from power." John Kerry in a post 9/11 speech to the United States house and senate.

Because his father screwed it up the first time and so JR had this grudge about it. Sooo to Dubya not wanting to loose the dick waving contest made up a story about Sadam having weapons of mass distruction. Then we got there and found out there was nothing but a 3rd world country with a bunch of sand, and NOOOOOO weapons of mass distruction. So dubya decided we should stay there because the Iraq has oil that we could steal from them. So after thousands of american's dieing, and billions of wasted dollars, Iraq is no better off than where it started from. In conclusion I CANNOT wait until dubya packs up his hillbilly **** and goes back to Texas!

Many people like you don't realize something rather important -- this enemy is unlike any we've fought before. They do not confine themselves to one country or nationality; thus, in order to fully protect ourselves from terrorism, we have to choose a staging ground. Out of all countries in the world, Iraq had the strongest ties to terrorism; thus, it's an appropriate place to start. What are we going to do -- give up because they can't fight like civilized enemies? Much of what the military is doing presently is cleanup work from when the terrorists really did occupy the country, while managing to keep the remaining forces that we know about at bay so they don't have the ability to form a solid base of operations.

Fiddly little detail -- the President cannot constitutionally order a military invasion, the Congress has to approve it. (Which, I would like to point out, they did -- quite resoundingly.)

Lots of reasons. Isreal wanted Iraq taken care of. Saddam tried to order a hit on his dad. Cannot forget the oil. Rich backers of bush would benefit from a major war. Check out how many war corporations are raking in huge profits. Wmds and saddam war crimes really were just the excuses.
